Latto - Big Energy

The Big Energy music video is essentially an upbeat, and vibrant celebration of doing “you” in life. Director Arrad reached out to us with this project where we were given the task of building out 4 separate environments for Latto and her team to be placed in throughout the video. Scissor Films oversaw the pre-vis for these environments, building out references in Photoshop to visually depict the ideas Arrad had expressed before shooting. We then supervised the shoot, and subsequently delivered a VMA-nominated video three weeks after locking the edit.

Case Study

Overview

Our team came together and built the environments from the ground up, utilizing programs like Cinema 4d, 3ds max, Maya, Houdini, and Unreal Engine. It was an all hands on deck project with the main goal to create visual effects that capture the electric energy of the song and blend well with Latto and her crew. From sitting on a lilypad in a pond surrounded in CG expansive floral meadows and waterfall oasis, to a heaven full of warmth and pink clouds, to a one of a kind craps table set, and finally a vast grassland.

While the project gave us the opportunity to get creative and have fun, its deadline was the most difficult aspect. To create four entire worlds in three weeks is unseemly, but we worked through each scene as fast as possible while still executing excellence.
